In collaboration with Alite Designs, Tiny Atlas Quarterly brings to you the Solas bag. Solas is a casual camera bag that’s
lightweight, versatile and durable. Not only for photographers, Solas is an adventure ready bag that reflects your personal style.
Solas is a durable waxed cotton canvas bag built with a cushioned internal frame to protect your gear. It features vegetable-tanned leather, metal hardware accents and an original three-way carry design that transforms the bag from tote to backpack or shoulder bag. Design features include: 13” laptop sleeve, air-mesh lined, easy-access pockets for iPhone, sunglasses or filters, a key leash and versatile fold-away center divider.
We have also made two accessory bags from waxed cotton canvas and a detachable leather strap that work interchangeably, so you can take just what you need. The Lens Pouch padded for protection with a wrap-around zipper opening. And the Grid Organizer: a unique accessory bag perfect for cards, batteries and thumb drives that features a two-sided color system, one color for those
cards and batteries ready to go and a second for those that need to be charged or downloaded.

For the past year, we have been developing a casual camera bag with Alite Designs. We met Alite’s Design Director Tae Kim and his team when they backed our 1st Kickstarter. Our collaboration was a natural one as both companies embrace getting out in the world and good design.
We beta-tested versions and versions of this pack until we got it right. We have consulted with our community throughout the whole process. Asking what they wanted in a camera bag too. We now have a gorgeous, easygoing day bag that helps us bring our big cameras back into our everyday lives. From the outside, the bag looks like a lightweight waxed cotton canvas tote. Inside, though, there's tons of protection, structure and organization.
Today we bring the Solas bag to you.Thank you for bringing to life a beautiful bag. We can’t wait to see what you do with these bags on your own adventures.
After working full time for over a decade as an editorial and lifestyle photographer, in 2012, Emily Nathan founded a new travel magazine, Tiny Atlas Quarterly. Tiny Atlas is a photographer-led and people centered publication. As the magazine developed, a community of travelers, writers, designers, photographers and creatives grew around it.
Today, Tiny Atlas is in constant conversation with our community, sharing inspiration from travels tagged with #mytinyatlas, a hashtag on instagram we created in 2014 and curate daily. #mytinyatlas is now one of the largest and most highly regarded tags in travel with more than 1.5 million posts.
We love to connect with our ever-growing audience directly through photo shows, events and have now even launched Tiny Atlas trips, incredible outdoor adventures where participants can develop their own storytelling skills.
More than anything, the ethos of Tiny Atlas is about wanderlust and celebrating the stories that are born from personal travel experiences and the images we hold dear to remember them. We started with an online and print magazine and then expanded into gallery photo shows, community events and trips.
Today we’re launching a camera bag that reflects our
design aesthetic intended to help you get out on your own adventures.
Kickstarter campaigns and start-up magazines definitely take a village.
A massive thanks to our project partner and Alite's design director, Tae Kim, for giving Tiny Atlas this opportunity to develop something we have been wanting to create.
A huge thanks to our Kickstarter video Director, Thayer Gowdy, video Editor, Maren Patton and to drone drop-in master, Adam Warmington.
Design: Incredible thanks to Mark Sloan for the Tiny Atlas re-design and Solas brand development. Thank you to Jake Huffman, Alex Gennette and Lizzie Hunter Vaughan for design magic.
Thank you to the Alite prototypers Jean and Jung and all of the Alite and Boreas staff who helped out on this project, especially
Todd, Jon, Ian and Liz.
Thank you to the Tiny Atlas home team this past summer: Sherese Elsey, Samantha Soon, Flora Tsapovsky. Thank you to magazine editors Jill Lindenbaum, Deb Hearey, Diana Mulvihill and Jennifer Rodrigue.

We have a bit of mixed news. The good news is, we are making your bags and they look awesome. Even better, we are producing the bags right here in the Bay Area, at the Mission-based shop of our Kickstarter partner, Alite Designs, as well as in a beautiful custom shop (also in SF) called Clinton Park. Because we ramped up to produce your bags right here in the Bay we are a bit delayed. Some bags are shipping next week, but we will over-run some of our early-bird backers bag delivery by a couple weeks. Please let us know any concerns you may have, but also rest assured that your bags are headed your way very soon.
We just shared a few pictures from Clinton Park on our @tinyatlasquarterly Instagram yesterday and will continue to share images of bag production and shipments as everything wraps up and gets shipped.
Thank you so much for your support and patience.

Hello wonderful backers!
We are sending an email this week with a special link to BackerKit surveys about your bags and accessories. It is important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we need this information for fulfilling your rewards.
You do not need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey, just click on the survey link, fill it out, and you’re all good to go. You will be able to answer questions about your rewards preferences, provide shipping information, and pledge for more “add-ons” if you'd like. You do not have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email.
If you decide later that you want to edit your survey response, you can go back to your survey and change it any time before we lock down the surveys for processing.
If you need to review your information or pledge status, you will be able to recover your survey here: https://tiny-atlas-solas-a-casual-camera-bag-for-photograp.backerkit.com
If you use your Facebook login for your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey will be sent to the email you used for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you would prefer to use, please contact support at https://tiny-atlas-solas-a-casual-camera-bag-for-photograp.backerkit.com/faq and we'll get you sorted out right away.
Start finalizing your choice between black, natural/rover yellow and color block (we are so excited to see what you choose!)...

Thank you all so much for supporting our project!
What an incredible community we have. It was wonderful to connect with so many of you online throughout the campaign and in person during our launch events in San Francisco at Alite's Outpost and in Brooklyn at the Independent Art Book Fair.
We will send a survey very soon via email where you will choose your Solas color.

Thank you all so much for backing our project. We are thrilled to be concluding this campaign having reached over 200% of our funding goal. We are so happy to get these bags made and out to you and your loved ones. Even more exciting will be seeing the Solas bags traveling all over the world on #mytinyatlas and #mytinyatlasSOLAS with you and hearing reports of how the bags are working in your lives.
If you have not shared the project, please take a moment to share it (Facebook is the best from our records) before our funding campaign ends tomorrow at 8 AM PST.
We will send a survey later this week where you can choose your colorway as well, so start making that final decision.
